Here's the official description: "a revolutionary system that utilizes the subtle energy of the electromagnetic realm, the chakras and auric field, in the human physiology to access an authentic range of emotional contact and communication within the self of the actor and between actor and audience." Prerequisites: No pre-requisites are required however it is recommended participants have some experience in acting training, performing or perception of subtle energy.) Description: The Energy System of Acting is a technique that involves the clearing and opening of the chakras. The seven chakras in the physical and etheric body are energy centers that affect the individual?s ability to experience physical, emotional, sexual, and spiritual sensations. Opening the chakras through physical exercises, movement and breathing techniques allows energy blockages to clear, and more chi (life-force) to flow through the body. Once the energy system is activated and flowing, each actor is given scene work to channel these sensations through the words, sounds and emotions of the text. The perceptible increase in energy produces a transformational effect on both actor and audience. In this system the teaching happens from the ?inside-out.? As a by-product the essence of the artist emerges in a natural manner. The process is gentle, yet direct and provides each participant an opportunity to profoundly alter their quality of life, and therefore their work.
Objective:
The exploration of the subtle energy system, chakras and auric field contain the mystery of our physical health issues, emotional struggles, relationships and belief systems. Through the cultivation of humility, integrity, compassion, love, connection and the loss of self-consciousness we proceed into the realms of subtle energy contained and reflected in the psyche and material body. The work is deeply grounded in the human physiology with special attention paid to practical application.
Skills Developed:
- Creating an energetic connection with another actor,
- Increasing range and spontaneity in voice, movement and emotion,
- Opening the chakras, charging and aligning the energy system,
- Channeling the character, developing your subtle (psychic) sense perception,
- Deepening self-realization through performance.
Application:
Students will be able to perceive subtle energy in the other performers, increase their energetic ‘presence’ or aura on stage and know how to create ‘chemistry’ with other actors. They will also be able to recognize when that chemistry is lacking and know how to make an adaptation in order to generate a connection.
